Evelyn Stepien was born , August 31, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Teofila Kaminski nee Prusinski. She died September 15, 2017 at the Rosewood Care Center of Inverness, IL. Longtime resident of Mt. Prospect having moved there in 1954 with her late husband William “Bill” and daughter Celeste.
Evelyn had a 20+ year career at the original Mt. Prospect State Bank, founded by William Busse, having started in the late 1950’s in the bookkeeping department, and over the years working in all departments of the bank until she retired in 1981 as Vice President of the Credit Department and procedure writing.
In retirement, she enjoyed taking both day and week-long trips with a senior travel group from Mt. Prospect and surrounding suburbs. She especially enjoyed attending performances of musical theater. She also volunteered, helping non-native English speakers learn to speak conversational English and helping people fill out medical insurance claims.
When she first moved to Mt. Prospect, she was a member of St. Raymond Catholic Church and then later as the population grew, she became part of the founding congregation of St. Emily Catholic Church.
